A person sits in the driver’s seat of a modern car, viewed from behind, looking at a dashboard GPS screen that displays a map and the words “Rerouting…”. Warm light filters through the windshield as traffic blurs softly ahead, creating a calm, reflective atmosphere that symbolizes redirection, trust, and moving forward.

Action Creates Clarity

Obedience doesn’t require all details

Hebrews 11:8
It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going.

It is a lot more comforting when you know where you are going. In today’s world, we have the privilege of GPS systems that give you route options, traffic alerts, and time of arrival. I love to use GPS, even when I know exactly where I am going and how I will get there.

But faith doesn’t always work that way. Faith requires us to step and take action before we know the destination and the route.

God will call us out, and then we have to take the first step. The second step is often not revealed until we take the first one. Abraham, who became the “father of faith,” earned this title because he was willing to leave what he was comfortable with and begin a journey into the unknown.

When we wait for God to give us all the details and refuse to move until we have exact instructions, we will likely miss God’s will and His plan for our lives. At the very least, our journey will be deterred and likely delayed because of disobedience.

Remember Jonah, who ran from his assignment. He took the long way and found himself on a “whale cruise.” Thankfully, God ultimately guided him back to His will—but this is not guaranteed.

Remember this principle: action creates clarity. It is imperative that you take steps forward. Allow God to guide you each step of the way. Action brings understanding and clarity that cannot be found through inaction.

Even if you take a step in the wrong direction, action makes things clear. God’s mercy will redirect you. But if you refuse to move out of fear or pride, you may find yourself stuck in a cycle of loss.

Yes, there are times when the instruction is to wait. In those moments, your action step is to set your mind on God and make sure you are able to hear His next instruction. This, too, is faith.

Take action. Discover God’s will. He has great things planned for you.

Prayer:
Father, discovering Your will is not always easy. It can seem elusive, out of reach, and confusing. But Your Holy Spirit is given to lead and guide us into all truth. Send Your Holy Spirit to Kiera, Makena, Aliyah, and Tegan, and guide them. Convict them when they take a wrong turn. Affirm them when they are on the right path. Give them courage when the direction is to wait.
